MathWorks (MATLAB) Transition to Single Sign-On (SSO)
UCF is transitioning access to MathWorks products, including MATLAB, RoadRunner, and related tools, to UCF’s Single Sign-On (SSO). This change enhances security and streamlines the login process for all users. The transition will take place on Tuesday, January 6, at 10:00 AM Eastern Time.
Please review the steps below before January 6 to avoid account duplication and ensure your MATLAB Drive files remain accessible.
Why This Change Matters?
- Improved Security: SSO aligns with UCF’s identity management standards.
- Simplified Access: One login for multiple UCF services.
- Account Continuity: Updating your email ensures your existing files and licenses remain linked.
Action Required
Your MathWorks account must use your NID@ucf.edu email address to work with UCF’s SSO.
Depending on your current setup, follow the instructions below:
If your account uses an alias or subdomain (e.g., firstname.lastname@ucf.edu, @creol.ucf.edu)
You can update your email yourself:
- Sign in at https://www.mathworks.com/ as usual
- Click your profile icon in the top-right corner and select My Account
- Go to Profile, choose Edit Profile, and update the email address to your NID@ucf.edu
If your account is linked to an @knights.ucf.edu email address
Self-service updates are not possible because these inboxes are inactive.
Contact MathWorks Support to update your email:
If your account uses an external email address (e.g., @gmail.com, @yourcompany.com) instead of @ucf.edu
You will need a UCF-sponsored account to maintain access.
A UCF-sponsored account is a guest account with a UCF Network ID (NID), sponsored by a UCF employee for up to one year. Sponsored accounts can be renewed if continued access is required.
Please notify your UCF sponsor so they can submit a request on your behalf at:
https://sponsoredaccounts.infosec.ucf.edu/.
These changes should be completed before January 6 at 10:00 AM Eastern Time.
What Happens If You Do Nothing?
If you have a UCF NID, your access to MathWorks products will not be interrupted.
However:
- A new MathWorks account will be created automatically after your first SSO login.
- Your existing files stored in MATLAB Drive (https://drive.mathworks.com/files/) will not transfer automatically.
- To recover your content, you must contact MathWorks Support to merge accounts.
If you don’t have a UCF NID, your access to MathWorks products will be interrupted.
A UCF-sponsored account will be required to access MathWorks products.
